I believe accessibility & responsiveness create accountability. We’ve done our best to model that behavior over the past 17 months. Showing up, bringing people together and offering a vision for a future built on problem solving, not finger pointing. Solutions based on common concerns rather than wedge issues. The finish line is definitely in sight now. There are less than 100 days until the midterm elections. We are going to be in growth mode all the way through. Building relationships at scale is what makes that possible.
For example, we had a Fish Fry Town Hall Sunday night in Olivia, MN (pop. 2,300). I thought maybe 25 or 30 people would show up. The crowd just kept growing. Pretty soon, we were pulling out more tables & bringing in chairs from the deck. There was a buzz in the room as people either connected for the first time or reconnected.
I mentioned last week that we were closing in on 500 days on this campaign. Over that time, I’ve done 242 events. That is almost one every other day. As we close the book on July, we can look back with confidence in the work we put in. As we turn the page to August, we feel confident we are still in a better position to flip this district than we’ve been in for a long time. And it is thanks to people like you. You, the people, are what powers this movement. I am now accountable for finishing strong. I’m beholden to you.

A 2026 Q2 fundraising update. The good news is when you take out PAC money, we outraised our current Congressperson by almost $20k. We raised just under $95,000 from individual donors in April, May & June while Michelle Fischbach raised just over $75,000. That is a 25% difference. 67% of her financial support comes from PACs. Where your money comes from says a lot about who you intend to represent. We are on a quest to prove that organized people can beat corporate money. To all of you individuals who helped make this happen, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

Finding Joy in the Journey
The flag says it all: we can do BETTER
I was back up north last week.Stopped at the Roseau County Fair and the Marshall County Fair. Both places were super busy, especially for a Wednesday. Even squeezed in a parade in Warren in-between. I know there are reasons to be deeply concerned about the state of affairs in this country, but I believe good results find those who put in the work and find some joy along the journey. I’ve been told joy is also a form of resistance. Super grateful to all those who joined us along the way.
Putting the “F” Back in DFL
We had another Agriculture Advisory Committee meeting last week. Over a dozen people connected with farming from throughout western Minnesota problem solving with a common goal: ending the chaos and uncertainty our current Congressperson supports. Our rural economies depend on the agriculture economy. Whether we work in the industry or not, it touches our lives. Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District needs a representative who listens to farmers and stands up for them. Tariffs and war continue to drive up input costs. One farmer talked about their experience ordering 7,200 gallons of fuel only to see the price go from $3.19 to $3.65 in a matter of a couple of hours. Farming is hard enough. What we hear from farmers is they don’t need disorder & dysfunction. They need a Congressperson who will bring common sense back to Washington D.C. and get things done.
A Major Milestone
500 days.
On Friday, we passed the 500-day mark of this campaign.
500 days of knocking doors, breaking bread with neighbors, and having real conversations about how we can do better. 500 days of showing up in 38 counties because our communities should have a representative who listens, not just talks.
But here’s the thing. This isn’t about the number of days Erik has been on the road. It’s about every person who’s decided to join us. Every volunteer who’s knocked on doors with us. Every neighbor who’s hosted a house party or fish fry or showed up at a fair or asked a tough question.
That’s what 500 days looks like when people decide to build something together. And we’re just getting started.
