10 weeks to go
That’s it. Just 10 weeks left until the 2026 midterm elections. I feel good about where we are at. We’ve built something pretty special together. As we head down the final stretch, I believe it will be our actions & REACTIONS that determine the outcome. Not words. (Actions>Words)
This campaign pledged to a no regrets mentality a long time ago and we aren’t changing now. If someone had told me we’d be in this position at this point in the race, I would have taken it. We have a strong Team of leaders. We have roughly 650 volunteers. We are making phone calls. We are knocking doors. We are writing postcards. All while continuing to build relationships at scale in all 38 counties. We are in a better position to win than we were last week. Because we’ve done more work. We have improved.
There’s no place in history I’d rather be than right here, right now with all of you. With a chance to shock the world. Many have written this race off. We are still the underdog. However we are already creating the change we seek. We’ve come a long way. Don’t forget to celebrate that. And it is because of you, not me. (WE>ME)
Yes, there are a ton of terrible things happening around us, but some of it is out of our control. I also believe optimism is a form of resistance. Now is the time to be bold. Our approach has put us in position to flip Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District. We have a long way to go & a short time to get there. But it can be done.
Fundraising update
The other good news is August is already our new best month ever for fundraising. We are now over $400,0000 total for the entire campaign. The generosity shown is humbling. Whether you have donated once, or monthly. Whether you’ve donated $5 or $500 or more. It all matters. You have enabled us to invest those dollars to build more name recognition between now & November. Let’s Talk National Debt
Let’s talk about our national debt. We currently stand at roughly $40 trillion. Our current Congressperson has been in office for 5.5 years. During that time, our national debt went up $11.5 trillion. I believe we can do better.

The “Foreign Beef Dump Plan” is in full swing…
Once again, the current administration has decided to put American farmers & ranchers 2nd. The “Foreign Beef Dump Plan” announced last week (Aug. 21) will temporarily suspend tariffs for 90 days on imported ground beef. Just another example of shortsighted, knee-jerk, reactionary policy. There’s no guarantee consumers will feel relief in the grocery store. This move could help a select few, especially by putting more money in the meat packers pockets. I’ve said for a long time that we need to treat farmer’s & rancher’s business like a business. I don’t believe this move is good for American producers. Perhaps it is a ploy to ease pain heading into the midterms. As of 3:30pm August 22nd, I’m not aware of a statement from our current Congressperson. My name is Erik Osberg and I’m running for Congress because I believe we can do BETTER.
National Farmers Union PAC Endorsement
The National Farmers Union Political Action Committee endorsed this campaign. That’s significant.
NFU is America’s family farm organization. They represent farmers across the country. They don’t endorse lightly. This endorsement means they’ve looked at who we are, what we stand for, & what we’re committed to doing for family farmers.
Over 40,000 miles across Western Minnesota, I’ve listened to farmers. Heard about consolidation squeezing margins. Tariff chaos creating uncertainty. Young farmers trying to build something but facing headwinds. Communities losing farms & losing population because agriculture isn’t viable anymore.
NFU sees that we understand the work. That we’ve actually listened. That when we get to Congress, we’ll fight for family farms. For fair prices, lower input costs, policy that makes sense.
This endorsement is a vote of confidence from farmers, by farmers. It says we’re ready to represent your interests in Washington, not corporate agriculture’s.

A Look Back
More miles, more conversations, great connections…
Erik put on a little over 1,000 miles last week bringing his total to 41,265. Between house parties, parades, county fairs, and our signature Fish Fry Town Hall, we continued to meet people where they are at and discuss common concerns.

I want to tell you about last week’s Fish Fry Town Hall in Yellow Medicine County.
1st takeaway is that Memorial Park in Granite Falls is pretty awesome. The Minnesota River flows alongside this 141 acre gem. The pavilion is perfect.
2nd takeaway is there are a TON of people taking action & creating the change they seek. Huge thanks to our crew who helped set up & execute the event. Gary, Lori, Bailey & others showed up early & stayed late.
MN State House Candidate Nathan Schmig & his Team showed up too. Nathan is another example of a working-class candidate who is doing his best to stand up for others. I’m always impressed when I hear him present. His passion & general good natured attitude are contagious.
Once again, for some this was our 1st time meeting. For others, this was a deepening of our relationship. I did my best to shake everyone’s hand and to listen. Because that is what leaders do. They show up & they bring people together.
Ribbon-cutting at the Farmers Union Meat + Processing facility in Staples, MN. Sen. Tina Smith, Sen. Amy Klobuchar & other dignitaries were on hand.
Had a great time at the Douglas County Fair Friday night.
Erik put on pert near 400 miles Saturday. He stopped by the McLeod County Fair and then headed to Marshall, MN to walk in the Sounds of Summer Parade. The Lyon County DFL combined with a bunch of great candidates made quite a presence.
