our path to victory

We had 2 Fish Fry Town Halls last week. Brown County & Swift County.
I have given 100’s of speeches over the past 19 months. I’ve intentionally changed it up over time. Partially to fit the moment, partially just to try to give people a little more each time. Last night I talked about HOW WE WIN. The answer is simple, but not easy. We outwork them. For 43 more days. We choose to do the work of today.
I spoke at the Grant County DFL Steak Fry last night. I also presented there at last year’s event. Back in September 2025, I had been running for 6 months. It was the 77th stop on the campaign trail. Last night marked the 305th event on this now 18.5-month quest. Last year, we were approaching $100,000 raised. We are now over $500,000. I can confidently say we have outworked the competition to this point.
I also shared how I believe we DON’T win. We don’t win if we tear each other apart. I suspect there are issues we don’t agree on. There might be specific policies we disagree on. We could argue about those for the next 6 weeks & see where that gets us. Or we could focus on what we call “common concerns.” Things like restoring checks & balances, ending corruption, and fighting for our rural economies.
I believe we are in position to pull off an upset. I believe we have created a competitive campaign that has ALREADY created positive change. The result will depend on how hard we work from here until Nov. 3rd. It is late in the 4th quarter, and we need to dig deep. But we have a puncher’s chance.
Last week we crossed some milestones. Over 300 events. Over 45,000 miles. Over $500,000 raised. And we couldn’t have done it without you. There is something special happening in western Minnesota. People are showing up, stepping up & getting involved. People are making phone calls, knocking on doors, putting up signs, donating, and talking to their neighbors. People have become multipliers. We are forever grateful for your support. Keep scrolling to see ways to join us.

Where we started
As this movement grows (thanks for that), I don’t want to assume that everyone is familiar with the foundations of this campaign. When we began, we started with a Mission. Vision. Values. Some people have questioned that over the past 559 days, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We also started with this 15-minute, yes, 15-minute announcement video. If you are new to this campaign, give it a watch. I like to say we’ve stayed pretty true to who we are. We show up. We listen. We learn. We lead. We have a choice this November 3rd.
Please consider sharing this video with someone who you think should know about us.

Why we keep showing up…
I’ve had some heavy conversations this week. Nothing bad, just times where real, genuine emotions came out.
On Monday evening, I was dorm knocking with some Team members at MSU-Moorhead. About the 6th door I knocked I met a student studying archaeology who had some things to say. After a brief introduction, when I asked what was on their mind, tears started to well up in their eyes. I told them it was OK. They were worried about the rewriting of history. We talked about concerns over AI. We talked about corporate influence in politics. We talked about general common decency, integrity & empathy. Or the lack thereof. We talked about a lot. I told them they aren’t alone. Many others have common concerns. I gave them my card & told them to email me if they have any questions.
On Tuesday evening a farmer & his son came to our Fish Fry Town Hall in Springfield, MN. The farmer was visibly upset. He had just spent $12,000 on fuel for machinery. He had a few choice words. I listened & did my best to ensure him I would work as hard as I can to stop the chaos & uncertainty. To restore checks & balances. To not just be a rubber stamp.
There is some real messed up stuff happening right now. It gets heavy. What keeps me hopeful are other people. I believe when we connect with neighbors, face-to-face, it can lighten the load. A team lift if you will. My hope is those individuals felt some hope too.
To everyone that keeps showing up. Thank you.
A Look Back
stop 300 in Appleton this week & still going
20 Fish Fry Town Halls down – 18 to go
Started the week at the Prairie Party in Benson, celebrating the roots of the DFL. Lots of first-time attendees, which I never get tired of. Then two more Fish Fry Town Halls — over 60 folks at the American Legion in Springfield for Brown County, & over 50 in Appleton for Swift County despite the rain. That one was our 300th campaign stop on this quest to flip Minnesota’s 7th. Huge thanks to Kathy & crew, the volunteers, & the state candidates who joined us along the way.
Capped it off walking the Headwaters Day Parade in Breckenridge, then knocked doors in Fergus Falls on the way home. Huge thanks to everyone who keeps putting in the work. Earned, not given. That’s our path to victory.

Great time at the Prairie Party in Swift County supporting our DFL candidates across the area. MN State Senate District 12 candidate Kari Dorry, MN State House candidate Talitha Anderson (12A) & MN Lt. Gov. candidate Ben Schierer were impressive. MN State Auditor candidate Zack Filipovich’s wife, Emily, represented their campaign & she did fantastic.

You guys keep sending in your pictures with our signs, and we love sharing every one of them!
