Roughly 300 people showed up for our Douglas Co. Fish Fry Town Hall in Alexandria, MN.
the home stretch
We have reached the home stretch. I’ve had Labor Day weekend circled on my calendar as a pit stop since Memorial Day. My goal this summer was to take advantage of every opportunity I could find, & to create just as many along the way. I’ve done over 100 events in roughly 100 days. Somewhere back in June I told myself if I could just make it to Labor Day weekend, we’d be OK.
Not only did we make it, I believe this campaign is on a new trajectory after last week. Our Fish Fry Town Hall Tour is in full swing and Wednesday night we set a new record for most people attending. Roughly 300 folks came out to break bread, create community & have their voices be heard. There were so many people who put in so much work to pull that event off. Good things happen when you believe the work is the reward.
Rest is a requirement as well. I mentioned this weekend was marked as an opportunity to recharge after the frantic pace of the past 3 months. Happy to report I made it to the Tiny Cabin late Friday night. It was just as peaceful as I remember. I was able to spend time with family, both immediate & extended. I caught some fish, mowed some lawn, split some wood, went kayaking, cooked over a campfire & ate well. An ideal Minnesota retreat in my humble opinion. My mom used to tell me “go outside & play.” She was right.
Weekends like this are also a reminder of why our natural resources matter so much to me. We should all strive to be good stewards, & as your Congressman I’d do my best to conserve what we’ve got & protect public land. That’s not a partisan idea out here. It’s just how you treat a place you intend to hand off to somebody else.
As we turn toward November. The calendar is packed full through the 3rd, & this next swing is the one that counts. It’s been hectic at times, but we’ve run a heck of a campaign so far, & I believe we’re right where we wanna be. Seventeen Fish Fry Town Halls down, 21 counties to go — we’ll be in Red Lake Falls Tuesday if you can join us. None of this happens without the hundreds of you who keep showing up. I’m grateful in a way that’s hard to fit in an email. Take a look below at what the Team has been up to, find something you can help with, & let’s finish this thing. We still believe. We can do better.

A Look Back
More miles, more conversations, great connections…
As mentioned, pert near 300 people showed up for our Fish Fry Town Hall in Alexandria. A new record, & I’m still blown away. Huge thanks to Laura & Kat, Bruce & Bonnie, the fish fry crew, the serving crew, the registration crew & the Douglas Co. DFL. Seeing that many people putting in the work is the fuel that keeps me going.
We had two more on Monday. Roughly 50 joined us for lunch in Slayton, & about 80 turned out that evening in Windom. Thanks to the local DFL units in both counties for all your help.
One issue came up in Murray County that folks in southwestern Minnesota are grappling with: the proposed PowerOn Midwest 765 kV transmission line. It could reshape the landscape out there, & more importantly, the lives of the people who call that place home. We’re listening.
I also caught my son’s first football game of the season Friday night — happy to report the home team is 1-0.
Huge thanks to “Apartment Andrew” for knocking doors with us in Wadena on Friday, & to everyone helping spread the word. That’s how we flip a district. One door at a time.
