This campaign has been moving forward for 455 days.
Our schedule is about to get pretty darn crazy. As of right now, we have AT LEAST 21 events on the calendar for the remainder of June. There are 22 stops in July. August is filling up fast. The visits vary from door knocking to parades to festivals to County Fairs and, of course, fish fries. It is all part of our strategy for winning. Building relationships at scale. I believe our path to victory is this: show up, listen, build trust, and prove that we can DO better. We are building a grassroots coalition across all 38 counties by meeting people where they are at, focusing on common-sense solutions and earning support one conversation at a time.” That might not sound flashy or maybe even modern. But that’s what I believe it is going to take. Day by day. Handshake by handshake. Conversations in places we haven’t been before with people we haven’t met yet. Yes, energizing the “base” and mobilizing the vote is important. However, that won’t get us the number of votes we need to win. Hearts and minds are won face-to-face. Not on the internet or the TV. That isn’t the CD7 Way.
When voters go to the polls on Nov. 3rd, we need them to see our name on the ballot & say to themselves, “I talked with someone from that campaign.” Or “I heard they are hard workers.” Or at the very least, “I recognize that name.”
Making time for some catch & release.
Knowing the work that lies ahead, I made time to be with family in the great outdoors last week. Our annual fishing trip was a success. I didn’t personally catch a ton of fish, but I got to share time with family. Both immediate & extended. It was a welcome distraction from the campaign trail, which is now 455 days long.

A Look Back
We had the honor of attending the Humphrey-Mondale Dinner in Minneapolis Friday evening. It was a recognition of the challenges Minnesota has faced over the past year and a celebration of those who have helped lead through these turbulent times. There were some CD7 moments that gave it a familiar feel. Tim Velde of Yellow Medicine County was featured in a video tribute to Sen. Tina Smith. MN House candidate Dan Mitchell joined other veterans to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Our table had MN House candidate Mali Anderson and Senate Candidate Julie Kelzer, along with delegates from Meeker County. Huge thanks to Alissa and Andy Evenson for helping make this happen. Fergus Falls was part of Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s speech as she talked about her running mate and Lt. Governor candidate Ben Schierer. There were even some walleye bites served as an appetizer at the Governor’s Reception. Keynote speaker Gov. Andy Beshear delivered a powerful message that hit home. Grateful for the opportunity to attend and make new connections.

Meanwhile, back home, we participated in 2 door knocking operations last week. One was in Douglas Country & the other in Becker County. We were DELIGHTED when 20 people showed up for Thursday’s door knock in Alexandria. We joined forces with the coordinated campaign on Sunday in Detroit Lakes following the Pride in the Park Festival.
