Over 30 people showed up to walk with us in the Heritage Days Parade on Saturday in Starbuck, MN.
We celebrated Independence Day on Saturday by showing up & showing out at two more rural Minnesota parades. Whenever I pull into a parade staging area, I never really know what to expect for a turnout. I can count on a handful of our core Team being there, but other than that, it’s a wait-n-see game. Once again, I was blown away by the number of supporters who joined us. The credit belongs to the people who are putting in the work to generate these types of turnouts. Evan Mattson is our Field Director. He has developed a Team of people to make phone calls, write post cards & door knock. We also now have two full time Field Organizers working with Evan, making good on our promise to invest donations into people power. Hiring hardworking individuals dedicated to the process. This is our path to victory. Bringing people into the tent with good old fashioned human to human communications & connections.

In a recent Weekly Update I mentioned wanting to quantify just how many interactions happen at these parades. True to our model of making data driven decisions based on metrics, we counted the number of hands I shook at both parades on Saturday. Our count was 672 at the 4th of July Parade in Spicer, MN on Saturday morning & 228 in Starbuck. That is a total of 900 people who I officially met. In one day. There was a tremendous vibe in the Spicer parade route. Lots of people wishing us well, thanking us for running & saying things like “You got my vote!” Watch the video below to get a better idea of what it looked/sounded like.

We aren’t going to outspend our current Congressperson but we can outwork them. On this campaign we focus on controlling the controllables. Our effort, our attitude and our actions. A Look Back
Small donors matter! Call me crazy, but I believe this is a big deal.
In the 1st quarter of 2026, this campaign OUTRAISED the current Congress person by 24% when you look at small donor amounts for individual donations less than $200. When you look at the number of donations we are up by 60%. In addition, 54% of her donations come from PACs. Ours is less than 1%. Organized people can beat corporate money.

Multipliers
Nicole LeDoux is a multiplier. She makes people around her better. She is part of the super hard-working Becker County DFL crew & she also helps this campaign as a County Captain. Last weekend, Nicole stepped up to speak on this campaign’s behalf at an event. Here is an excerpt from what she said: “Erik’s campaign is rooted in issues that connect back to the very land we’re standing on. You can’t strengthen rural economies and family farms without healthy soil and clean water. You can’t have agricultural sustainability while ignoring our climate. And clean energy means something EVEN BEYOND jobs and independence – the less dependent we are on fossil fuels, the less entangled we are in foreign wars over them. Ivan Olson is a multiplier. Ivan and I first met last summer. He attended one of our 1st Fish Frys & helped us pull one off in Pelican Rapids early last fall.
