FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 22, 2025

Wadena, MN — Since launching his campaign for U.S. Congress on March 11th at The Depot in Wadena, Erik Osberg has traveled more than 2,500 miles across western Minnesota, visiting 15 counties in the 7th Congressional District in a little over a month.

“We’ve been listening closely to what’s on people’s hearts and minds,” said Osberg. “Each county has its own unique story, but many concerns are shared across the district—like protecting Social Security and Medicare, supporting our veterans and schools, strengthening agriculture, safeguarding our environment, and restoring balance and accountability in government.”

To date, Osberg has visited the following counties: Kittson, Roseau, Pennington, Polk, Clay, Hubbard, Wadena, Otter Tail, Stevens, Pope, Swift, Kandiyohi, Yellow Medicine, Lac qui Parle and Redwood.

As a candidate seeking the DFL endorsement, Osberg highlighted the importance of connecting with people across rural Minnesota. “One of our goals is to unite the blue dots throughout the district,” he said. “I’ve been encouraged by how many hardworking, values-driven people I’ve met. There are more blue dots out there than I expected.”

Osberg's visits have included meetings with local DFL units, discussions with nonpartisan groups, town halls, community meet-and-greets, and one-on-one conversations with residents.

His campaign is centered on a vision for strong rural public schools, accessible healthcare, and a fair playing field for family farmers. “What I’m hearing is a desire for compassion and integrity to return to politics,” Osberg said. “People are looking for leadership that prioritizes empathy and accountability in Washington.”

Osberg will continue his district tour in the coming weeks, with upcoming stops in Stearns County on April 24 and Douglas County on May 3.

setting the pace, finding our rhythm

After sprinting out of the blocks, we now find ourselves establishing a sustainable rhythm. I’ve talked about approaching this race like a marathon, rather than a sprint. The midterm elections are still 560(ish) days away. That being said, we are still getting out there and listening to people in MN-07.

Last week, we visited 3 new counties. Roseau, Kittson & Lac qui Parle. The meeting in Kittson County was a non-partisan town hall. Current representatives were invited, but didn’t show up. For an hour and a half, citizens shared their thoughts about social security, health care, veterans, education & agriculture. One of the most impactful questions I heard was; “What assurances do we have that rural seniors won’t be forgotten or left behind?” I wish the current reps had been in the room to hear that, and other concerns/stories.
